“When interpreters of the Israel/Palestine Conflict treat the flawed logic of others as an index of the conflict’s authentic or essential nature they sustain this conflict’s own normative modes of strategic interaction. And, curiously, material culture has occupied a privileged position in this process. In discussions about the status or significance of monuments, a logic of recrimination actually advances a tacit form of agreement about how to account for conflict to begin with.“
